“We have spent five wonderful family summer holidays in Elounda, always using the John William House apartments as our base. We have been to many different destinations on family holidays but have found nowhere as relaxing and simple as Elounda. We first went with our two sons when they were quite young and used the larger Athena apartment so we could all be together. Nowadays we let them (and us) have some space and use two adjacent apartments which works very well for us all !
The apartments are only a few minutes’ walk from the town centre and local beaches, far enough to be away from any late night noise but close enough to walk wherever you need to with ease. The apartments are cleverly laid out to avoid overlooking anyone and are furnished with high quality fittings. As food is so reasonably priced in town we eat out all the time, however the kitchen areas are quite sufficient to make salads and pasta dishes if you decide to eat in.
Rob and his team do a fantastic job of looking after you and making sure everything is clean and welcoming with regular changes of towels and bedding and are full of great local advice. Nothing is too much trouble - we can’t recommend it highly enough and are booked in again for next summer.”

I've been coming to Elounda since 1987 and found this little gem about 9 years ago.
John William House is a lovely, comfortable, quiet, and very clean place to stay. The owner Rob maintains these apartments to an exceptionally high standard which is proof itself as I've lost count how many times we've stayed there.
Can't recommend it enough, your a 5 mins stroll to the village of Elounda for fabulous Greek food and bars for great people watching.

We cannot recommend the lovely resort of Elounda in Crete too strongly. It has wonderful restaurants, a wonderful climate and really friendly locals.
We have thoroughly enjoyed our many stays in the apartments in John William House and confidently predict that you won't find a better location; it has beautiful views and is only a few minutes stroll from the village and beach. The accommodation is excellent. The modern fittings have been carefully chosen; there is everything here you need for a perfect holiday (including really comfortable beds).
Rob Capp, the proprietor, is usually on hand to share his extensive knowledge of the area and the best tavernas to visit etc. He was a great help to us and we appreciated and benefited from his friendly advice.
John William House is the place to be if you get to see Elounda. Located on top of Mavrikiano Hill, surrounded by olive trees, and just two minutes from Hope Bar and five on foot from the sea. The complex includes 5 apartments that will fulfill your every need, whether you are alone or with your family and friends.
They're tidy and regularly cleaned by a housekeeper that won't wake you up early in the morning, all fully furnished and equipped with kitchen, fridge and microwave oven. But the things I could appreciate the most through the years are the bathrooms, 3 of which have real bathtubs inside, and the balconies large enough to have your breakfast or a drink rocked by the evening breeze before dining out.
The owner, Mr Rob Capp, a real pioneer of the British community on this side of the island, but very well known and respected by the locals as well, is friendly and very reliable, and I'm proud to say that my mates and me (depicted above) came 8 years ago as perfect strangers and we kept on coming since then as friends for life."
